Cable Fault Locator Uses TDR Technology

The cable fault locator tests for line breaks and short circuit faults in twisted-pair cables, data cables, high frequency cables and coaxial cables. It is also used to locate and reveal cable damage and terminal impedance failure. The high performance cable fault locator is commonly used in HFC systems and such applications as electric wire and cable manufacturing.

GAO Instruments’ portable cable fault locator, model A0680005, accurately tests 25ohm, 50ohm, 75ohm and 100ohm cables and provides an electronic map relevant to time domain. It supports a test distance of at least 2,000m in line short testing and 8,000m in line break testing. The rugged fault locator offers a pulse width from 270nm to 5.6µm and a wave range from 50m/µs to 300m/µs. Additionally, it features a high definition backlit LCD screen and simple, automatic operation, a small test blind zone of less than 2m and a comparison test function.

Optical-Electrical Signal Level Meter with Practical Functions

Fiber Optic Identifier Designed for Use in CATV Systems

Multi-Functional ADSL Tester Supports a Long Transmission Distance

Light Weight Signal Level Meter Works in a Wide Frequency Range

Handheld Optical Multi-Meter for Fiber Optic Networks

Compact Single Fiber Fusion Splicer

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments (www.GAOInstruments.com) has announced the availability of its compact single fiber fusion splicer specifically designed for single mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF), non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber (NZ-DSF), and erbium-doped fiber (EDF). The single fiber fusion splicer detects the fiber end-face and adjusts parameters automatically. It features a short splicing time of eight seconds, and an impressive tube heating time (sleeve shrinking time) of 40 seconds.

This user programmable single fiber fusion splicer, model A0620004, boasts simultaneous X and Y views, 256x magnification and a reversible monitor and a control panel on each side. It supports both manual and automatic splicing modes and supports up to 150 continuous splices and heats. The typical splice loss using this innovative fusion splicer is only 0.1dB to 0.3dB. The single fiber fusion splicer has a large memory and is able to store 8,000 groups of splice results. The splicer automatically adjusts to environmental conditions using built-in temperature, humidity and pressure sensors which provide constant feedback signals to control the fusion arc temperature.
