Portable CATV Cable Fault Locator Utilizes Time Domain Reflection Technology

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments recommends its CATV cable fault locator. This CATV cable fault locator is able to automatically locate and indicate the distance to many kinds of RF cable faults such as short circuits, open circuits or high resistance points. It is widely used in testing underground cables to find impedance break points and locating and terminal impedance failures in HFC systems.

This CATV cable fault locator, model A0500007, applies Time Domain Reflection (TDR) technology and display it on its LCD screen. This locator accurately tests 25, 50, 75 and 100Ohm impedance cables with a length of up to 2km. This portable cable fault locator provides an intuitive electronic map relevant to the time domain picture so that faults can be detected easily. Handheld Fiber Optic Power Meter Features Automatic Calibration

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released its handheld optic power meter, which is intended for absolute optic power and relative loss measurement. This power meter is an essential tool utilized in telecommunication and CATV maintenance as well as in fiber optics test labs.

This multi-functional power meter, model A0670007, operates at a high accuracy of Β±5% and offers an automatic calibration function. Calibrated wavelengths including 850, 980, 1300, 1310, 1490, and 1550nm are available. It displays optic power in mW, dB and dBm on its large, high resolution LCD screen. The meter consumes little power and provides more than 240 hours continuous operation with three 1.5V batteries. Due to its rugged design, the meter is dust and water resistant, Β Β the power meter is ideal for field use.

Transmission Performance Analyzer Designed For 2M Systems

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments recommends its transmission performance analyzer which is used for measuring the error rate of data communication and for the analysis of line faults and their causes. It is suitable for parameter measurement and routine maintenance testing of 2M systems and NΓ—64K communication channels. This analyzer supports multi-task operation and performs background tests allowing users to review previous records.

This handheld digital transmission analyzer, model A0300005, can be used to test digital channels with 2Mbit/s interfaces, equi-directional 64kbit/s interfaces, or other interfaces such as V.24/V.28/RS232, V.35, V.36, RS449, X.21, RS485, EIA530, EIA530A. It stores as many as nine test settings and twenty groups of test results in its on-board memory to avoid data loss in the event of power failure. Test results can be transmitted to a computer for storage, analysis and printing. The handheld analyzer has an internal rechargeable battery which enables more than eight hours continuous operation.

Multi-purpose Data Communication Tester

Arbitrary Waveform Generator and Frequency Counter with DDS Circuit

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released an arbitrary waveform generator and frequency counter which boasts DDS circuit to produce the corresponding DAC refreshing clock. It directly reads waveform data files produced by Tektronix oscilloscopes or Tektronix waveform editor software and displays the waveform. The waveform generator uses DDS technology so that it has advantages of high frequency accuracy, high waveform resolution, high reliability and wide software support.

This cost-effective USB waveform generator and frequency counter, model A0200002, is shipped with both SDK and API and can be easily integrated or embedded into other auto-measuring systems. It is integrated with one channel of arbitrary waveform output, 8 bit output, synchronized signal output and two input channels for counter/frequency measurement, 8 bit input and external trigger input. Users can arbitrarily edit the waveform using a mouse. Parameters such as amplitude, frequency and offset are configurable. Users can also choose regular waveforms including Sine, Square, Triangle, Saw-tooth, TTL, white Noise, GaussIian Noise, Trapezoid, Exponent, AM and FM are configurable. A computer transfers the waveform data into the memory of the signal generator via USB bus; the ID counter cycles and sends the periodic waveform data to the DAC circuits.
