Portable Multi-purpose Data Communication Tester

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has rolled out its multi-purpose and compact data communication tester designed for the creation, maintenance and troubleshooting of digital networks. It conducts both framed and unframed tests on such equipment as primary multiplexers, digital cross connects, automatic protection switches and circuits operating at speeds between 50 bit/s and 2048 kbit/s. This smart tester can measure a variety of devices from low-speed modems to high-speed digital lines.

This data communication tester, model A0030001, features synchronous or asynchronous data transmission and G.821, G.826 and frame analysis. It functions in 2 M offline mode, 2 M online mode, DTE and DCE emulation and error insertion. An error analysis function allows histograms of either error or alarm data to be quickly and easily displayed. The compact tester integrates V series data interfaces, G.703 Co-dir 64kbit/s and G.703-2Mbit/s interfaces for data exchange. Accommodations for future interfaces are also available. It can store the selected measurement results as well as simultaneous error measurement of various parameters in onboard memory. Additionally, this data communication tester is powered by DC9 V external or built-in chargeable batteries operating continuously 4 hours.

Portable Optical Fiber Identifier

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments recommends its portable optical fiber identifier which is specifically designed for using in the construction and maintenance of optical fiber communication and CATV systems.

This portable optical fiber identifier, model A0640004, features easy operation and high detection accuracy. It can identify three popular signal frequencies, namely, 270 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz. This optical fiber identifier can efficiently identify optical fibers by inserting the fiber into its adapter head without any damage to the fibers. It provides a wavelength range for identification of 800 nm to 1700 nm and a minimum detecting sensitivity of -55 dBm. This identifier is able to identify H0.25 bare fiber and H0.9/H2.5/H3.0 tail fiber. It is equipped with LEDs for low power indication, displays of the direction of optical transmission and the intensity of optical signals. It operates continuously for at least 8 hours on a full charge.

Visible Fault Locator

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released its handheld visible fault locator which is an ideal tool suitable for both single mode and multi-mode fibers. It features low voltage warning and automatic power off for saving energy. The fault locator has a visible red laser source used to find fiber faults in fiber jumpers, patch panels, enclosures, connectors and couplers. It uses visible light to indicate the location of fiber faults accurately from a macro bend point, break, problem coupler or connector or a mechanical splice that is not well aligned.

This smart fault locator, model A0630008, is commonly used for the installation and maintenance of optical networks. It remedies the limitation of the dead zone of an OTDR. The practical visible fault locator supports FC, ST and SC adaptors as well as CW and 2 Hz alternative optical output modes.

Optical Power Meter Features a Built-in Long Wavelength Camera Probe

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has launched its optical power meter which is equipped with a single-chip microprocessor and a built-in long wavelength camera probe. The portable optical power meter offers simple and reliable operation and is suitable for various environments. It is commonly deployed in the construction and maintenance of fiber optics communication systems and fiber optic CATV and is used to test continuous optical signals.

This optical power meter, model A0300027, features self-calibration, low voltage warning, auto-off function and real-time data monitoring function. It operates over the wavelength range of 850 to 1700 nm and offers working wavelengths including 850 nm, 980 nm, 1300 nm, 1310 nm, 1490 nm, 1550 nm and 1625 nm. The meter performs power measurements within a test range of -70 to10 dBm and -50 to 26 dBm at an accuracy of Β± 5 %. It detects frequencies of 270 Hz, 1 kHz, and 2 kHz automatically, resets automatically and switches range automatically. FC, ST, SC or LC connectors are provided for selection and power, attenuation and relative value are displayed in nW, Uw, mW, dB and dBm on its large, high resolution LCD screen. The meter uses RS232 interface for data exchange and has a large memory capacity of up to 1000 groups of data.

Multi-functional Automatic Communication Cable Fault Tester

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has announced the release of this intelligent and sensitive communication cable fault tester which integrates the functions of an OTRD, an ohmmeter displaying 4 digits resistance values, a 250 V high-voltage digital megohmmeter and an automatic bridge. This tester is widely chosen to accurately locate faults such as core wire breaks, misconnection, geothermy, water absorption, and poor insulation in the acceptance testing and maintenance of electrical cable.

This portable communication cable fault tester, model A0310007, has a multi-lingual interface and three testing clamps and uses CAC technology and DAGC + DWAR technology for waveform visualization. It features intelligent printing, advanced multi-functional automatic communications and safe operation under high voltage. This tester deploys high-precision rapid automatic bridge testing points for poor insulation of 50MΞ© within 4s and precision soldering allowing for SMT pin distance of only 0.55mm. Its intelligent switch-mode power supply and battery charger protects against such conditions as over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and reverse connection of power supply. The backlit LCD screen is capable of clearly displaying six resistance values between the A, B paired lines and the connection line. RF Spectrum Analyzer

Portable Multi-Point Data Acquisition Board

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released a data acquisition board with demo source code under common development platforms. It integrates 16 parallel channels using synchronous acquisition which can be expanded to 256 fully synchronized channels. It communicates with a computer via a USB 2.0 interface with a high transfer rate. This device has zero and channel gain auto-configuration.

The hot-pluggable data acquisition board, model A0730002, features a pre-panel to display acquisition state of channels and a post-panel to provide a cascading interface. The easy-to-install data acquisition board supports a sample acquisition depth of up to 1M for each channel and a sample memory depth of up to 1M for each channel. Its high A/D resolution is up to 12bits and sampling rate up to 500k. It provides manual, external and internal triggering on rising or falling edge with adjustable triggering levels. The frequency bandwidth of input signals is 0kHz to 150kHz in DC mode or 0.2kHz to 150kHz in AC mode.
