Handheld Digital Signal Level Meter

This high-performance handheld digital signal level meter, model A0500035, operates over a frequency range of 5 to 870 MHz. It conducts measurements for digital-analog-mixed networks and performs Tilt, C/N, Voltage and V/A tests. This digital signal level meter offers a bandwidth of 0.28 to 9.99 MHz and a signal level measurement range of 30 to 120 dBµV at a level precision of ±1.5 dB. It is able to analyze QAM 32 64 128 256/ITU-TJ.83 Annex A/B/C modulated signals and provides a spectrum analysis span of 6.25, 12.5, 25 and 62.5 MHz. PC toolbox software and constellation diagram display are provided. This handheld digital signal level meter communicates with a computer via an RS232 interface or a USB port for data exchange.

Portable Versatile PCM Channel Analyzer

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released this compact PCM channel analyzer which incorporates an analog signal generator/receiver, a selective level meter, a BER tester, a ring generator/identifier, a dialer, a DC loop circuit (ICT, OGT), a balanced bridge and a reflecting bridge into a single instrument. It is widely used to measure PCM devices, digital switches, carrier wave communication devices and VoIP devices. The analyzer also has functions for measuring PCM voice encoding and decoding performance characteristics, return loss, longitudinal conversion loss and longitudinal conversion transfer loss. It is especially applicable in testing applications for R&D, production, engineering installation, commissioning and maintenance.

The easy-to-use PCM channel analyzer, model A0050003, provides flexible control, offering both auto and manual modes. It features touch operation, key-stroke operation, expanded mouse operation, analog and digital interfaces, and a convenient Windows GUI. Either equal step or customized frequency spots are selectable. Users can develop and design voice channel measurement and control systems under various conditions via USB or remotely through Ethernet interface. The high performance PCM channel analyzer compares the measured results with built-in standard ITU-T tolerance masks and evaluates whether the results indicate a pass or fail. It has a storage capacity of up to 100 groups of results and measurement configurations. Test results are shown graphically and can be uploaded to a computer where they can be further viewed, analyzed, assembled, filed and printed via embedded software which can be upgraded online.

This portable PCM channel analyzer belongs to GAO’s E1 Service Tester family of products. More advanced models in the family are GAO A0020003, GAO A0050004, and GAO A0040008. High Performance CATV Analyzer

This handheld CATV analyzer, model A0500034, operates over a frequency range of 5 MHz to 870 MHz with a frequency step of 10 kHz and accepts both QAM and QPSK modulation types. Professional Digital Function Generator

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has released this digital function generator (DFG) which is a powerful and user-friendly device for generating electrical waveforms in the frequency range of 0.3 to 3 MHz. This low cost digital function generator contains an attenuator, offers various means output waveform modulation, and has the ability to automatically and repetitively sweep the frequency of the output waveform between two operator-determined limits. This capability makes it very easy to evaluate the frequency response of a given electronic circuit. It can be used in such applications as audio response testing, vibration testing, servo system evaluation and ultra sound applications. This DFG belongs to GAO’s Logic Analyzer and Generator family of products.

This professional digital function generator, model A0400002, offers adjustable sweep time and sweep width both in linear and logarithmic modes. It boasts external voltage controlled frequency (VCF) function; duty cycle control with signal inversion capacity, two-step and variable attenuator and a built-in 6 digit counter with INT/EXT function up to 100 MHz. Waveforms can be either repetitive or single-shot in which case some kind of triggering source is required. Waveforms include Sine, Triangle, Square, Ramp, TTL and CMOS output. The function generator features variable DC offset control, high resolution, INT/EXT AM/FM modulation, LIN/LOG sweep mode and GCV output for synchronization. In addition, an oscilloscope may be connected to this instrument for output display.

Handheld Telephone Line Tester

Handheld Visible Laser Source

Parallel Data Acquisition Module

Toronto, Canada – GAO Instruments has launched its parallel data acquisition module with demo source code for common development platforms for technical development. The design differs from comparable instruments in that the signals from a large number of detectors are processed in parallel. It is an ideal tool for anyone who works with PC104 embedded systems. It belongs to GAO’s Data Acquisition Card/Module family of products.

This parallel data acquisition module, model A0710007, boasts a wide sampling rate ranging from 1 k to 40 M with a low inter-channel phase difference of less than 1°. It has a memory depth of 4 M/ch which can be extended to 8 M/ch or 16 M/ch and achieves ±40 mV to ±40 V voltage signal acquisition. This data acquisition module is equipped with two high-speed 40 M 12 bit ADCs and boasts two independent programmable gain channels. It features a compact size, stacked connection, DasView 2.0 analysis software system and easy to use bus drive. It allows for quick and easy data acquisition and control to be carried out using a computer. Additionally, this compact data acquisition module provides manual, external and internal triggering which is divided into triggering on rising edge and falling edge with adjustable triggering levels and performs highly accurate measurements with phase consistency.

Multi-function Handheld XDSL Tester
