Portable and Simple-to-Use Fiber Optic Identifier

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Toronto, CanadaGAO Instruments is offering its protable and simple-to-use fiber optic identifier for engineers and technicians to identify dark or live fiber and excessive losses due to misalignment of mechanical splices or poor connections.

This compact fiber optic identifier, model C0230001, provides transmission direction display, multiple signal frequency identification including 270 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz, and detachable InGaAs detectors. It offers an available wavelength range of 800 to 1700 nm.

Employing safe and reliable macro bending technology, it is able to avoid the disruption of network communications that would normally be caused due to the need to disconnect or cut the fiber optic cable for identification and testing.

Normal communications can be maintained while identifying the transmission direction, speed and relative signal strength on its 5-level display with only very small signal loss.

Apart from the above, its low-voltage indication, automatic shutdown and rechargeable lithium battery allows for more than 4 hours of continuous operation.

This compact fiber optic identifier belongs to GAO’s family of Optical Fiber Identifiers. This line also includes another similar product Portable Optical Fiber Identifier which is an essential tool in the installation and maintenance of fiber networks. This line of optical fiber identifiers is ideal for the maintenance of telecommunication and CATV systems and other fiber optics networks.
